Releases Schedule of Events Throughout NYC

 APRIL 16-22

 

CheeseWeek 2018 has released a schedule of events to celebrate all things Cheese the week of April

16th – 22nd. All of the events are open to consumers and provide an opportunity to explore cheese while tasting a variety of offerings from extraordinary producers. 2018 marks the second year of the event in NYC.  CHEESE Week is the brainchild of Jean-François Hesse who created the first event in Paris in 2016.

 

 

Some of the special events being hosted throughout the city include:

 

Bloomingdale’s, 59th Street and Lexington Ave

  • This is your chance to experience the newly redone 8th floor Home Store which will be dedicated to all things Cheese Week 2018!

 

Chef Demos:

  • Tuesday April 17th from 12pm to 2pm: Jean-Louis Dumonet – Dumonet (315 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231)
  • Thursday April 19th from 12pm to 2pm: Peter Betz and Kyle Eakins – The Gin Parlour at the Intercontinental New York  Barclay Hotel (111 E 48th St, New York, NY 10017)
  • Thursday April 19th from 5pm to 7pm: Hervé Malivert - International Culinary Center (462 Broadway New York, NY 10013)
  • Friday April 20th from 12pm to 2pm: Sébastien Pourrat – Cocotte (110 Thompson Street New York, NY 10012)
  • Friday April 20th from 5pm to 7pm: Claude Godard – Madison Bistro (238 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016)
  • Saturday April 21st from 12pm to 2pm: Marc Bauer - International Culinary Center  (462 Broadway New York, NY 10013)
  • Saturday April 21st from 5pm to 7pm: David Lubell – Rouge Tomate (126 W 18th St, New York, NY 10011)

Bloomingdale’s Fromage Fete

April 21 – Noon to 7 pm : Say Cheese! Join us for a fete that you will long remember. Cheese, Wine and Spirit pairings will get everyone in the mood to Celebrate Cheese!

  • Noon to 2pm : Marc Bauer Demo
  • 1pm: Arrival of Eric Bayer, Deputy Consul of France
  • 2 to 5pm : Big Party with music at the 8th floor but also at the 7th floor Tabletop Department.

Join the culinary art shop Juliska on Saturday April 12th from 2-5 and taste their amazing cheese selection served on Juliska products. The brand makes hundreds of items in over a dozen categories for the table and home, all inspired by the joy of bringing people together and helping create a happy home.

  • 5 to 7pm : Davil Lubell Demo

 

Dean & Deluca (560 Broadway, NYC)

  • April 16th : Savencia Cheese Demos in Madison and Soho

The other days, they will feature local cheese producers from New York and Connecticut with demos. Their Cheese Monger in Soho will make fondue with their different gouda.

 

French Cheese Board

April 20 - 6:30pm to 8pm

  • Class is in Session!  Join Christel Vibrac for a tasting of Cheeses from Fromagerie Henri Hutin

This class includes tastings of  Triple crème Belletoile, Brie Couronne Black Pepper, Brie Couronne Chives, Belletoile Garlic & Herbs, Belletoile Horseradish and Belletoile Original.

Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel

Waiter Why Is The Olive On The Plate and Not in My Cocktail ?

  • At the famed New York Barclay Hotel, the bar chef and chef have worked together to create a specialty cocktail Barclay Bees Knees to be served throughout CHEESE Week at the Gin Parlour.
  • The special cocktail accompaniment is a stuffed olive that features Emmi Kaltbatch Gruyere and Fennel Pollen Sausage.
  • Barclay Bees Knees: Beefeater Gin, Smoked Rooftop Honey, Fresh Lemon Juice. $18

 

Le District (225 Liberty Street)

April 16 - 22

  • The Charcuterie station will feature a special Four Cheese Fromage plate for purchase daily paired with  special selected wines by the glass, offered at a special price throughout the week.

 

Murray’s Cheese

April 16 – 22

Demonstrations Daily - 3 to 6pm

  • The Murray’s Cheese locations at 254 Bleecker Street and Grand Central Terminal will host demonstrations daily.
  • Murray’s Cheese Bar on Bleecker will offer customers wine and French cheese pairing options as specials in addition their regular menu.

April 19 - 6:30 to 8 pm

  • ‘Vive les Fromages’ a special class highlighting all of the wine, cheese and spirits sponsors will be held at the Bleecker Street location.

     This class is $85 per person and reservations can be made on Eventbrite.com

 

Zabar’s (2245 Broadway at 80th Street)

April 16 – 22

Demonstrations Daily – 3 to 6 pm:

  • April 17th – 2 to 6pm: Join Emmi Cheese USA for a tasting of Cheeses which included Kaltbach Cave-Aged Le Gruyere AOP and Der scharfe Maxx
  • April 19th – 2 to 6pm: Join Savencia Cheese USA for a tasting of Cheeses which included Montagnard, St Agur, St Andre, Ile de France Brie, Esquirrou (Ossau Iraty), Severac.
  • April 20th – 1 to 4pm : Join Christel Vibrac for a tasting of Cheeses from Fromagerie Henri Hutin which included Triple crème Belletoile, Brie Couronne Black Pepper, Brie Couronne Chives, Belletoile Garlic & Herbs, Belletoile Horseradish and Belletoile Original.

CHEESE WEEK 2018, APRIL 16 – 22  IS THE ULTIMATE CHEESE ADVENTURER’S DELIGHT

Program Expands with Tastings, Events and Classes

 

PARIS, FRANCE, APRIL 3 - Cheese Week 2018, conceived two years ago by Jean-François Hesse and produced by Transversal FR has released the schedule of events planned for NYC to fete all things Cheese. “This marks the second year of Cheese Week in the U.S. and it’s exciting to see how quickly the event has grown. We truly have something for everyone” said Jean Francois Hesse, CEO Transversal. This year’s sponsors include major retailers, wine and spirit purveyors, cheese shops and cheese producers in addition to restaurants and hotels. Cheese Week takes place in Paris and NYC and in 2019, Hesse expects to expand to additional global markets.

 

This year’s activities include everything from Cheese Classes to tastings at hot spots throughout NYC including Bloomingdale’s, Dean & Deluca,  the French Cheese Board, Zabar’s, Murray’s Cheese  and even the  Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel.  “Cheese is one food that brings people together, a common denominator that is enjoyed by everyone, every day.  The response from attendees at Cheese Week events has been so encouraging and we’ve been able to grow this event because of our sponsors,” said Hesse.

 

Highlights include: Demos, tastings and a party to remember at Bloomingdale’s newly remodeled Home Floor in the flagship store on Lexington Ave in NYC, a specialty cocktail at the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel, Classes at both Murray’s Cheese and the French Cheese Board, Tastings of Wines and Spirits with selected Cheese Pairings at Murray’s Cheese, Dean & Deluca will feature local cheese producers from New York and Connecticut with demos.
